Who should wait, or not have one
Your hair loss is still progressing quickly and untreated · you are in your early twenties with an unclear final pattern · the donor area is thin · the loss is from alopecia areata, telogen effluvium or a scarring condition rather than pattern baldness · there is active scalp infection or inflammation. In most of these, medical treatment comes first.

The hair that is not transplanted is still subject to the same pattern loss. If it is left untreated, the transplanted hairline stays while the area behind it keeps thinning — and the result looks worse over the years, not better.
